Data Deletion Policy
What actually happens, and when, from the moment you click delete.

This page describes the account deletion process StudErn actually runs — not an idealized version of it. Every step below matches what the system does.
1. Requesting deletion is immediate. Deletion itself isn’t.
From your profile’s Danger Zone, you can request account deletion at any time by confirming your password. The moment you do:
- You are signed out of that device immediately.
- Your account is marked for deletion, with a permanent-removal date exactly 30 days out.
- Nothing about your profile, applications, or data is deleted yet.
This is a deliberate design choice, not a delay for its own sake: account deletion is usually requested in a moment of frustration, right after a bad experience, or by mistake — and it’s irreversible once it actually happens. The 30-day window exists to make sure that’s a decision you still hold to a month later, not a decision made in the moment that can’t be undone five minutes after you meant something else.
2. Cancelling, any time in those 30 days
Sign back in during the 30-day window and you’ll be able to cancel the pending deletion from the same Danger Zone panel. Cancelling restores your account exactly as it was — nothing was touched while the deletion was pending, so there is nothing to restore beyond clearing the scheduled date. You can request deletion again later if you change your mind a second time; each request restarts the 30-day count from that moment.
3. What happens on day 30
A scheduled process runs daily and, for any account whose 30-day window has elapsed, permanently erases:
- Your profile: name, contact details, date of birth, and all profile fields
- Education, skills, work experience, projects, and achievements
- Your applications and their history
- Saved jobs, interview records tied to you, and your resume data
- Your membership in any company you belong to
This is a genuine, hard deletion of everything above — not a deactivation, and not a hidden backup we can restore from afterward. Section 4 below is the complete list of the few things that are handled differently, and why; nothing else survives this step.
4. What survives day 30, and why

That deletion record cannot be used to find you, contact you, or reconstruct your profile. It cannot be reversed back into your original email or phone number — the fingerprint is one-directional by construction, not just obscured.
5. Recruiters and companies
If you’re a member (not the sole administrator) of a company, deleting your account removes you from that company’s team but leaves the company, its postings, and its hiring history intact for its remaining administrators.
6. Requesting deletion on someone else’s behalf
We only act on a deletion request authenticated as the account in question — that means confirming the account’s own password. If you need to request deletion of an account you can no longer sign into (a lost password, a deceased user, and similar cases), contact [email protected]and we’ll verify ownership through another channel before acting.
7. This is separate from suspension
An administrator suspending a job posting for violating platform rules is a moderation action, not a data deletion — it hides the posting from search and applications while leaving the underlying record intact for review. It has nothing to do with the process on this page.
